Speaking from painful experience here. I didn't mention my cold sore history at my first appointment because I felt embarrassed. Huge mistake. Within 48 hours after lip augmentation, I had the worst breakout of my life across my entire lip line. It looked terrible and hurt like hell. Now I always take prophylaxis. Before my second session, I read everything I could about lip augmentation procedure precautions and learned that this is extremely common. Now I start antivirals three days before, avoid lip products with arbutin or other irritants, and keep my lips moisturized with plain vaseline. No outbreaks since. Just be honest with your injector, they've seen it all.
